The Institute translates its groundbreaking gemological research into practical applications that inform its instrument development, its laboratory services such as diamond grading and gemstone identification services, and its renowned educational programs. GIA shares its body of knowledge with the public and the industry through its many communications vehicles. Such avenues include the GIA Library, the quarterly scientific journal Gems & Gemology, the e-newsletter GIA Insider, and through our work with the media.

GIA Helps Carlsbad Boys & Girls Club Raise $1,400
CARLSBAD, Calif. – Nov. 11, 2009 – The Green Team at the Gemological Institute of America got together with the Boys & Girls Clubs of Carlsbad earlier this year with an idea that would put GIA’s recyclable trash to good use and raise funds for the club. GIA employees collect the cans and bottles, and the club picks up and processes them, then receives the California Refund Value. Read more.
